who builds houses where you're supposed to have sand castles? I don't understand why there are not zoning laws prohibiting this

So the only footage of another “floating” house is in the first 30 seconds or so. The rest is way toooo long drone footage of the same10 or so houses, shot moving down the beach , then back up the beach. The initial floating house footage was the only true footage aligned with the title. It is sad though.

There is literally no way id feel like being in a house that had waves coming under it….its creepy and unsettling to me to say the least

Why is anyone allowed to live this close to the ocean? All coast lands should be public property, not private, and should be left to the shorebirds, sea turtles, all other life as it was before humans. We can walk the beaches but we must not live on them.

200ft from the water is not good enough? Those homes look so ugly they should be outlawed for that reason alone.

Someone had a bright idea to build in front of the existing beach front property lol. Well thats not beqch front thata literally in the beach. Bad idea.

Never buy house on the literal beach where waves break under the house. Who agrees?

I just hope all people, pets and valuables are out of these houses. Next time, build maybe inland.

You should not be able to build in these Areas ! Think about it you don't live in these Places you pay all that $$ to your insurance company never file a claim But your rates keep going up ? One big rip off

The barrier island of Rodanthe is a sandbar. There is NO Land there! What moron builds a house on a sandbar. There is no bedrock to sink pilons or foundation into. Sandbars by definition shift with the current and power of the ocean. No sympathy! 4:34

I really miss the Frisco pier. It was the best all around fishing pier on Hatteras Island by far. Avon & Rodanthe were better for drum fishing but Frisco had a lot of more exotic species caught than all the others. They caught tarpon, amberjack, king mackerel, huge Spanish mackerel, and others off the end of that thing. Im convinced that if they’d rebuilt Frisco in the same way they rebuilt Jennettes pier in Nags Head, there would be a wahoo or sailfish eventually caught off the end of it. Sorry to see it go.

There have been several comments regarding a house called the Black Pearl in Rodanthe I wish that those commenting knew the facts and would stop assuming things and then.posting inaccurate info.... #1. That house is not abando ed...2 mind you not 1, house movers took the contract then last minuted backed out for easier jobs and believe this or not, the last company had a written contrat.... #2. That house is NOT hooked to power.... #3. The plan, as it has been for the entire past year, was to move it. After waiting for 3 months for a company that agreed to move yet canceled last minute and then waiting another 3 months on written contract a company back out and actually was on another job when supposed to be moving it... So, please, if you care to write or send video info out make sure you have the FACTS😅 thank you

Classic case of greed - You wanted an ocean view, well you got it.

I use the eat there a lot when I was as kid. It’s been decades in world and time that is now long gone., it was my favorite seafood place when down in OBX. Had a few birthday dinners there., Now it sits forgotten in the back sound side of Buxton (Cape Hatteras). It’s eerie a sad to see it in that state , Being reclaimed by the elements,,…Long forgotten,, frozen in times and abandoned.

I have to cross this Demonic Bridge every now and then for my job and the Virginia Dare is easier to drive on this Demonic Bridge. It's narrow, only two lanes, too long for a two lane bridge and I wish that the bridge rotates, and the boats sail through, as fast as this when you have to sit on this Demonic Bridge while you have to wait on it. Did I mention that this bridge is Demonic? 😂😂😂😂

Why are these houses still standing? They should have been torn down long time ago!! Why let all this debri wash into the ocean. Make the owners pay for the removal before this happens.

I wonder though if wave breakers will protect them. It is a spectacular scenery, and i imagine if secured people would pay top dollar to BnP facing the fury of the ocean.

Wow. Haven't been down to Avon since 2020. I always stayed in Avon in November. How quickly the place changed in a few years. Might be the last time this November if things keep going this way. Thanks for documenting all of this.

2:30 - Notice that this house, which still has outdoor furniture on its porches and a green garden hose on the top floor, is missing one of its front support poles, 3rd from the right. There is a sag in the lower porch right there due to the absent support. So even though everything appears to be OK, it's not. I'd say this structure would be another victim of the ocean in the near future.
